About the OrganThe Organ at St. Stephen was built and installed by Robert L. Sipe and J. Rodney Yarbrough in 1962. it is commonly referenced as "Sipe-Yarbrough, Opus 1". The organ is a mechanical action, 2 manual instrument. The tracker organ features 13 stops and 17 ranks. It is free standing and self contained. The organ was featured in the Organ Historical Society 2019 Convention.
The organ plays an important role in our weekly worship at St Stephen UMC. Our organist, Reverend Kathie Johnson, leads congregational hymn singing from the organ each week. Rev. Johnson also employs the organ to provide preludes, offertories, postludes, and other liturgical music for worship services. Instrument Specifications
