About the Organ
The Organ at St. Stephen was built and installed by Robert L. Sipe and J. Rodney Yarbrough in 1962. it is commonly referenced as "Sipe-Yarbrough, Opus 1". The organ is a mechanical action, 2 manual instrument. The tracker organ features 13 stops and 17 ranks. It is free standing and self contained.
The organ plays an important role in our weekly worship at St Stephen UMC. Our organist, Michael Carr, leads congregational hymn singing from the organ each week. Mr. Carr also employs the organ to provide preludes, offertories, postludes, and other liturgical music for worship services.
